Clockify Alternatives (2026): 11 Tools After the Free Plan Cut

A Clockify alternative is a time tracker that gives you back whatever Clockify took away or never had. For most people searching in 2026 that is the free plan: on April 21, 2026 Clockify's owner cut it to five users, 31-day reports and PDF-only export. TimeCamp is free for unlimited users with CSV export, Jibble is a free time clock for unlimited users, and Kimai is free because you host it. For paying teams the complaint is tier-shopping, approvals on Standard, budgets on Pro, SSO on Enterprise, and Everhour, My Hours and Harvest sell one plan with the lot. For teams that outgrew a tracker, Toggl Track, Paymo and QuickBooks Time are the exits.

The pages that rank for this search are written by Homebase, Time Champ, Time Doctor and My Hours, each ranking its own product first, and two of them predate the April change they do not mention. This guide gives the reasons with dated quotes, October 2026 pricing for eleven tools with free-plan limits and the tier that carries each feature, and an export plan that works around the PDF-only free plan. There are no vendor links and nothing paid for its place.

The short answer

If the April 2026 free-plan cut is the problem, TimeCamp is free for unlimited users with CSV export, Jibble is free for unlimited users as a time clock, and Kimai is free forever because you host it.

If you are paying for features spread across four tiers, Everhour and My Hours put approvals, budgets and invoicing in one paid plan, and Harvest puts invoicing on every plan including free.

If you have outgrown a tracker, Toggl Track gives you adoption and profitability reports, Paymo gives you project management with billing, and QuickBooks Time or Jibble give hourly crews a real time clock with payroll.

What Clockify costs and does in October 2026

Clockify

Clockify

The incumbent
Runs on Web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, kiosk Pricing (October 2026) Free for 5 users with 31-day reports and PDF-only export; Basic $3.99, Standard $5.49, Pro $7.99, Enterprise $11.99 per seat per month billed annually ($4.99, $6.99, $9.99, $14.99 monthly); CAKE.com bundle with Pumble and Plaky $12.99; kiosk-only seats from $0.79; 7-day Pro trial; canceling drops the workspace to Free with data kept Monitoring Opt-in activity monitoring on Pro; no screenshots

What it is

Clockify is a timer and timesheet with modules added by tier. Basic brings billable rates, kiosk, breaks, time audit and imports. Standard brings approvals, time off, invoicing, attendance and overtime, targets and the QuickBooks integration. Pro brings budgets, scheduling, expenses, GPS, labor cost, custom fields and an opt-in activity monitoring feature labeled new in October 2026. Enterprise brings SSO, SCIM and an audit log. On April 21, 2026 its owner CAKE.com cut the free plan to five active users, 31-day reports, PDF-only exports and no billable rates or kiosk; existing paid plans were untouched. Every invited user takes a paid seat.

Better than Clockify

  • The cheapest paid ladder of any full tracker: approvals and invoicing at $5.49
  • Attendance, overtime, kiosk and GPS alongside project time
  • Imports Toggl, Harvest and ClickUp CSVs with a published guide

Where Clockify is still better

  • The free plan is now a trial in all but name: 31-day reports and no CSV export
  • Features are spread across four tiers, so the plan you need is often one up
  • Trustpilot 2.9 of 5 over 85 reviews, most from after the April change

Who should switch to it

Teams that want the most features for the least money and can live with a dense interface. Our time tracking software review places it second for value.

Why people leave Clockify

Clockify's review-site scores are high and mostly predate April 2026; the recent complaints are on Trustpilot and in its own help forum. Each reason below points at a replacement.

The free plan was cut without warning

On April 21, 2026 the free plan lost CSV export, billable rates, the kiosk, time off and reports longer than a month, and was capped at five users. Clockify says an in-app notice went out a month earlier; many users say they saw nothing until features disappeared.

without warning or notice, the terms were changed overnight and nearly all the functions I had were blocked behind a paywallTrustpilot, three stars, August 14, 2026

Fixed by: TimeCamp (free, unlimited users, CSV export), Jibble (free time clock), Kimai (self-hosted).

Years of reports out of reach

Reports on the free plan now cover 31 days at a time and export only to PDF, so a freelancer's ten-year history is still stored but cannot be pulled out without a paid plan or trial.

Years and years of data lost - around 10 years.Trustpilot, one star, June 16, 2026 (the data is retained; the report window is the issue)

Fixed by: export on a paid trial first, then move to Toggl Track, Harvest or My Hours, which keep full history on paid plans.

Paying across four tiers

Approvals are on Standard, budgets and scheduling on Pro, SSO on Enterprise. A team that needs approvals and budgets pays $7.99, and every invited user is a seat, including managers who only approve.

Randomly changed the price of the offering from free to 300+ Euro a year.Trustpilot, one star, October 9, 2026

Fixed by: one-tier tools: Everhour ($8.50 with budgets, invoicing, approvals), My Hours ($8 with approvals), Harvest Teams ($9).

A dense interface

Clockify has more settings than most teams use, and reviewers describe the member and project screens as slow and occasionally hanging as workspaces grow.

the software is now so buggy, it's always hanging when I try to change member detailsTrustpilot, one star, October 17, 2026

Fixed by: Toggl Track and My Hours, which do less and are adopted faster.

Forgotten timers

Like every timer, Clockify records what you remember to start and stop. Its auto tracker helps on desktop, but the common failure is a timer left running overnight.

Fixed by: automatic capture: Timely drafts the timesheet privately; TimeCamp's AI tracker does the same.

You need a real time clock or project tool

Clockify's kiosk, GPS and scheduling are modules on a project tracker. Hourly crews outgrow them, and agencies outgrow its project features.

Fixed by: Jibble or QuickBooks Time for crews; Paymo for agencies.

Which alternative fits

Tools that cannot do what you need most drop out of the top three.

The alternatives in detail

TimeCamp

TimeCamp

Free for unlimited users
Runs on Web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, kiosk, browser plugin Pricing (October 2026) Free with unlimited users and projects, timers, timesheets, calendar and automatic tracking; Starter $3.99, Premium $6.99, Ultimate $9.99 per user per month billed annually ($5.49, $9.99, $13.99 monthly); Enterprise by quote from 50 users with self-hosting

What it is

TimeCamp is the closest thing to what Clockify's free plan used to be: no user cap, automatic tracking, idle detection and a browser plugin for 80 or more tools. Starter adds invoicing and attendance, Premium adds budgets and app tracking, Ultimate adds approvals, screenshots and labor costs. Its marketplace lists a Clockify importer.

Better than Clockify

  • No user cap on free, with CSV export
  • Invoicing at $3.99, below Clockify's Standard
  • A Clockify importer on its marketplace

Where Clockify is still better

  • Approvals only at $9.99
  • App tracking only from Premium
  • Its page's structured data disagrees with its visible prices; confirm

Who should switch to it

Teams pushed off Clockify's free plan who need more than five users.

Switching

Use TimeCamp's Clockify importer or a CSV of time entries exported from a Clockify paid trial.

Toggl Track

Toggl Track

The tracker people keep using
Runs on Web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, browser extensions Pricing (October 2026) Free for 3 users on new accounts; Starter $9 and Premium $16 per user per month billed annually ($12 and $24 monthly); 30-day trial

What it is

Toggl Track is simpler than Clockify and more expensive: a one-click timer, a private timeline, billable rates on Starter, approvals and profitability on Premium, no monitoring by policy. It is the move for teams whose Clockify data decayed because people stopped using it. Our Toggl alternatives page covers the reverse move.

Better than Clockify

  • Highest adoption of any tracker; people keep using it
  • Profitability and labor cost reports on Premium
  • A written policy against monitoring

Where Clockify is still better

  • Three times Clockify's price for approvals
  • No invoicing, attendance, kiosk or GPS
  • Free plan capped at 3 on new accounts

Who should switch to it

Teams that need people to track consistently more than they need modules.

Switching

Export Clockify time entries as CSV on a paid plan or trial, then use Toggl's universal CSV importer.

Harvest

Harvest

Invoicing on every plan
Runs on Web, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, browser extensions Pricing (October 2026) Free for one seat and two projects with invoicing and expenses; Teams $9 and Enterprise $14 per seat per month billed annually ($11 and $17.50 monthly); Enterprise Plus by quote with assisted migration; 30-day trial

What it is

Harvest tracks time and expenses and invoices them with online payment, syncing to QuickBooks Online, Xero and Stripe. Billable and cost rates on Teams, approvals and profitability on Enterprise. Where Clockify added invoicing as a module, Harvest was built around it.

Better than Clockify

  • Invoicing and payments on the free plan
  • Accounting integrations that close the loop
  • Project and people import from CSV; assisted migration on Enterprise Plus

Where Clockify is still better

  • Approvals only at $14
  • No attendance, kiosk or GPS
  • Single-seat free plan

Who should switch to it

Businesses whose tracking exists to produce a bill.

Switching

Import projects and people from CSV; time entries through Harvest's template.

Everhour

Everhour

One plan, inside the project tool
Runs on Web and browser extension inside Asana, Jira, ClickUp, monday, Trello, GitHub, Notion; iOS Pricing (October 2026) Free for up to 5 users without integrations; Team $8.50 per seat per month billed annually with a 5-seat minimum; Custom from 50 seats; 14-day trial; unused annual months not refunded

What it is

Everhour puts budgets, estimates, approvals, invoicing and reports in a single paid plan and lives inside the project tool, so there is no second place to log in. It is the cure for Clockify's tier-shopping.

Better than Clockify

  • Approvals, budgets and invoicing in one tier
  • Estimates on the task where people see them
  • No monitoring

Where Clockify is still better

  • Needs a supported project tool
  • 5-seat minimum; no monthly price published
  • No attendance or GPS

Who should switch to it

Project teams in Asana, Jira or ClickUp who kept opening Clockify separately.

Switching

Map Clockify projects to tasks; historical time stays in Clockify exports.

My Hours

My Hours

Approvals at $8, quietly
Runs on Web, iOS, Android Pricing (October 2026) Free for up to 5 active users; Basic $4 and Pro $8 per user per month billed annually ($5 and $9 monthly); Enterprise by quote; 14-day Pro trial

What it is

My Hours tracks project time with billable rates, budgets, approvals with an audit log on Pro, and does not charge for archived members. It is less dense than Clockify and does the core job for small services teams.

Better than Clockify

  • Approvals and budgets in one $8 plan
  • Archived members free
  • Faster to adopt than Clockify

Where Clockify is still better

  • Fewer integrations
  • No kiosk, GPS or attendance
  • No automatic desktop capture

Who should switch to it

Small consultancies who found Clockify's settings heavier than their needs.

Switching

CSV import of projects and time.

Timely

Timely

Automatic timesheets, private by default
Runs on Web, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android Pricing (October 2026) Starter $9 (up to 5 users, 20 projects), Premium $16 (up to 50 users), Unlimited $22 per user per month billed annually ($11, $20, $28 monthly); Enterprise by quote

What it is

Timely records work privately and drafts the timesheet for approval, which removes the forgotten-timer problem at the root. Budgets and capacity reports are included; approvals, invoicing and GPS are not.

Better than Clockify

  • No timers to forget
  • Raw activity is private to the user
  • Capacity planning included

Where Clockify is still better

  • The most expensive tracker here
  • User caps on lower plans
  • No approvals or invoicing

Who should switch to it

People whose Clockify timesheets are reconstructed on Fridays.

Switching

No importer; Timely records from installation.

Paymo

Paymo

Project management with billing
Runs on Web, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android Pricing (October 2026) Free for 1 user, 1 client and 2 projects with unlimited invoices; Solo $9.90, Plus $15.90 per user, Pro $23.90 per user monthly after a three-month intro discount for accounts created after September 25, 2026; annual up to 40% less; 15-day trial

What it is

Paymo is a project management tool with time tracking, invoicing, Gantt charts, resource scheduling, expenses and profitability. It replaces Clockify and the project tool at once for agencies.

Better than Clockify

  • Project management, time and invoicing in one place
  • Profitability and scheduling without add-ons
  • Free plan invoices

Where Clockify is still better

  • Expensive above Solo
  • Approvals only on Pro
  • More tool than a team that only wants a timer

Who should switch to it

Agencies that outgrew Clockify's project features.

Switching

CSV import of tasks and time after the project structure is set up.

Jibble

Jibble

A free time clock
Runs on Web, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, kiosk Pricing (October 2026) Free for unlimited users with mobile and web clock-in, GPS stamps, facial recognition kiosk, timesheets and approvals; paid tiers quoted rather than published

What it is

Jibble is attendance: GPS and kiosk clock-ins, overtime and paid-break rules, schedules, approvals and exports to QuickBooks and Xero, free for unlimited users. It is where Clockify's kiosk and GPS users should look when the free plan stopped including them.

Better than Clockify

  • Free for unlimited users, kiosk and GPS included
  • Facial recognition and geofencing
  • Overtime and break rules built in

Where Clockify is still better

  • Paid pricing not published
  • No project budgets or invoicing depth
  • Facial recognition needs biometric consent in Illinois

Who should switch to it

Hourly teams that used Clockify as a time clock.

Switching

Import employees from CSV; start at a pay-period boundary.

QuickBooks Time

QuickBooks Time

Hours into QuickBooks payroll
Runs on Web, iOS, Android, tablet kiosk Pricing (October 2026) Time Premium $20 base plus $10 per user per month; Time Elite $40 base plus $12 per user; base fee halved for the first three months on new subscriptions; monthly billing; 30-day trial of the base fee; per-user fees rose $2 on July 1, 2026

What it is

QuickBooks Time is a time clock and scheduler that feeds QuickBooks Online and Payroll: kiosk with facial recognition, GPS, overtime alerts, approvals, and on Elite geofencing, timesheet signatures and project tracking. It costs far more than Clockify and is the right move only for crews already running QuickBooks payroll.

Better than Clockify

  • Hours flow straight into QuickBooks payroll
  • Kiosk, GPS, schedules and geofencing on Elite
  • Approval workflows for payroll

Where Clockify is still better

  • Base fee plus per user; a 10-person crew pays $120 a month on Premium
  • Requires a QuickBooks Online, Payroll or Desktop account
  • No project billing or profitability

Who should switch to it

Hourly crews on QuickBooks payroll who used Clockify's Standard-plan QuickBooks sync and want the native product. Our QuickBooks Time alternatives page covers the reverse.

Switching

Clockify's QuickBooks integration already maps customers and employees; export Clockify timesheets and let QuickBooks Time start clean.

Hubstaff

Hubstaff

If you want proof of work
Runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android Pricing (October 2026) Starter $4.99, Grow $7.50, Team $10 per seat per month billed annually ($7, $9, $12 monthly); 2-seat minimum; 14-day trial; 30-day money-back

What it is

Hubstaff adds optional screenshots, activity levels, GPS job sites and payroll to a project time tracker. Clockify's Pro activity monitoring is a light version of the same idea; Hubstaff is the full one, with the trust trade-offs described on our Hubstaff alternatives page.

Better than Clockify

  • Proof of work for clients that require it
  • Payroll from tracked hours
  • GPS job sites

Where Clockify is still better

  • Screenshots and activity scores change the relationship with a team
  • 2-seat minimum
  • Needs a monitoring notice in several states

Who should switch to it

Teams whose clients now require evidence of hours.

Switching

Import members and projects from CSV; issue a monitoring notice first.

Kimai

Kimai

Open source, free forever
Runs on Any browser; Docker or manual install; mobile apps Pricing (October 2026) Free under the AGPL 3 license, self-hosted; a hosted cloud version is sold on kimai.org; expenses is a paid plugin

What it is

Kimai is an open-source tracker with customers, projects, budgets, teams, invoice templates, exports, SAML and LDAP, two-factor authentication and an API. Nobody can cut its free plan because you run it.

Better than Clockify

  • No user limit and no vendor
  • Invoicing templates and a full API
  • Your data on your server

Where Clockify is still better

  • You maintain the server and backups
  • No automatic tracking or kiosk
  • Community support unless you buy cloud

Who should switch to it

Technical teams and privacy-conscious firms for whom April 2026 was the last straw.

Switching

Kimai's importer plugin reads CSV time entries; test on a copy.

How to get your data out of Clockify

  1. Start a paid trial before you export. The free plan exports PDF only and 31 days at a time. The 7-day Pro trial, or one month of Basic at $4.99, restores CSV and Excel export and full date ranges.
  2. Export the Detailed report with the longest date range and all columns, as CSV. Export projects, clients and users from Workspace settings.
  3. Check the import format of the new tool. TimeCamp lists a Clockify importer; Toggl, Harvest and My Hours take CSV; Everhour, Timely and Jibble start fresh.
  4. Downgrade rather than delete. Clockify keeps data when a workspace drops to Free, so an old report can still be reached later by starting another trial.
  5. Reconcile one month of totals by project before you tell the team to stop using Clockify.

How these tools were chosen

Each tool was checked on October 21, 2026 against the same list: free-plan limits, published pricing with minimums, which tier carries invoicing, approvals and budgets, platforms, monitoring, and import paths from Clockify. Clockify's own pricing page and its help-center article on the free-plan update were the sources for the April 2026 change. Review quotes are from Trustpilot with dates shown; review-site aggregate scores are not quoted because those pages could not be read for this article and mostly predate the change. No vendor paid for placement and there are no affiliate links.

Key takeaways

Frequently asked questions

What is the best alternative to Clockify?

TimeCamp if the free-plan cut is why you are leaving: free for unlimited users with CSV export and invoicing at $3.99. Toggl Track if people stopped tracking. Harvest if invoicing is the job. Everhour if you want one paid plan inside your project tool. Jibble if you need a time clock. The chooser above ranks them.

Is Clockify still free?

Yes, with limits set on April 21, 2026: five active users including the owner, reports covering 31 days at a time, PDF export only, no billable rates, kiosk or time off. Unlimited time entries and projects remain free. Paid plans start at $3.99 per seat per month billed annually.

What changed in Clockify's free plan in 2026?

CAKE.com announced the changes on April 21, 2026. The free plan dropped CSV and Excel export, billable rates and amounts earned, the kiosk, time off and shared reports, capped reports at a 31-day range, limited the API to 30 requests an hour and three webhooks, and capped users at five. Existing paid plans were unaffected.

Is there a free alternative to Clockify with unlimited users?

TimeCamp's free plan has no user cap and includes timers, timesheets, a calendar, automatic tracking and CSV export. Jibble gives unlimited users a time clock with GPS stamps and a kiosk at no charge. Kimai is free and self-hosted with no limit. Everhour and My Hours are free for five users; Toggl Track for three.

Is there an open-source alternative to Clockify?

Kimai, licensed under the AGPL 3, with customers, projects, budgets, invoice templates, SAML and LDAP, two-factor authentication and a JSON API. You host it yourself with Docker or buy the hosted cloud version from kimai.org.

How do I export my data from Clockify on the free plan?

The free plan exports PDF only, 31 days at a time. Start the 7-day Pro trial or one month of Basic, which restores CSV and Excel export and full date ranges, export the Detailed report with all columns, then downgrade. Data is kept when a workspace returns to Free.

Does Clockify take screenshots?

No. Clockify's pricing page lists an opt-in activity monitoring feature on the Pro plan and does not list screenshots on any tier. Of the alternatives here, Hubstaff takes optional screenshots and TimeCamp offers them on its Ultimate plan; the rest take none.

Which alternative imports Clockify data?

TimeCamp lists a Clockify importer on its marketplace. Toggl Track, Harvest, My Hours and Kimai import CSV time entries. Everhour, Timely, Paymo and Jibble start fresh, so keep Clockify's exports for closed periods.
